A monthly social group for those people socially isolated by chronic illness

Living with a chronic illness can be very isolating. Friends and family may not understand your limitations and individual needs. Eventually you may find yourself socially isolated. Unfortunately there tends to be a gap in the services provided by government and charity groups to cater for people of all ages who are sick and just need to mix with other humans in a really low key, easy on the body, way. Housebound Social came from my (Georgina Bignell) needs. I am socially isolated by illness but I find mixing with other people who are ill means we have a shared understanding and there is no judgement or expectation of lasting a whole social outing.

So what is Housebound Social????
  • We meet every month, 3rd Thursday, 11am - 2pm

  • We meet at Karinya Vale

    • It is air conditioned, cool in summer, warm in winter

    • It has comfy chairs and couches

    • There are day beds if you need a lay down

    • It's not too far to drive and it's quiet and beautiful

  • We have an art activity to do

  • We have lots of nice people to socalise with

  • It's free! But please bring a plate of something healthy to share (or your own lunch if you have dietary restrictions)

This is all meant to be relaxed and fun so...
